Hey guys,

I was wondering if I should buy an Ovation Elite 1778T on ebay for $800 with $30 shipping. It comes from a eshop that has some very nice comments. I was wondering if I should buy it? Is it a good deal? The reason i'm not buying it from places like guitarcenter.com is because they have it listed as $850, but also have some insane tax that bumps it up to about $900. But still, I'm wondering, is it a good deal for $830, or should I be waiting more patiently for a better deal to pop up?

Welcome Juniodude!
The EliteT is a great guitar. Most everyone here thinks it offers the most bang for the buck.
However, we try not to be the Price Police around here. You need to do some shopping and find your own best deal.
But concider this.... it might be worth the extra $50 if they offer a 30 day, no questions asked, return policy.
Because this is your first post and I don't want to come off as being cold about it...I will say that I have seen the EliteT on the internet at lower prices. Now you just got to go find them.
And... I would not hurt to include Al in your list of shopping spots. You might find the best deal there... or... you might not.

also be aware, there are 1778t models with op30, op40, and op Pro, preamps currently out there.

shoot for your best deal on one with the pro.

my buddy Slydog has a black one with the OP Pro
really nice, and I like the textured finish.

the guitar sounds really good, and don't show fingerprints :D

Welcome JunioDude.

Just do your research, Lanki's suggestion of searching the sell/trade and vault area's of this site is a great place to start.

Welcome to the OFC.

If it is new, from an Authorized Dealer, comes WITH a case, is the LX model (thinner TRC) and you like it, that's a good price.

Welcome,

I played a 1778T a a local guitar Center a while back. I thought it was a great sounding guitar.

It was the black which I liked not the "Lusty Red"

I can't remember the price. I would agree with the other members. Shop around a little and contact Al.

Wow, I came back to so many more new comments. Ive never been on a forum that has been so warm and free about giving comments. It makes me so happy.

Just a quick question, I already looked it up on the ovation site, but i just want to make sure. Are OP30's and OP40's silver and OPPro's black? Or does it vary? how do you tell if the 1778t has OP Pro (Other than through site or seller descriptions)?

If you live near a guitar center, check what prices they are offering: they are usually very open to bargaining over Ovation prices.
