I'm looking to buy an ATA case for our new Allen & Heath PA20CP. Has anyone purchaed from the Ebay vendors, Island Case, New York Case, or My Case? They seem to be one in the same, just different Ebay names.

I just custom ordered a case from Ja-Nal in California on the recommendation of another OFC member. Competitively priced, and arrived at my door within three weeks. The fit is perfect.

Those are beautiful cases. a bit over our budget I think. We just need something to cart it around the church, in and out of the sound room. No road work in site at this point.

Willard, you're correct about the price. There are lots of less expensive cases on the market. Once I decided to custom order a case at the upper end of the commercial continuum, I found that Jan-Al offered more bang (primarily in quality hardware) for the money, but it was still more money than others. I paid $256 shipped to my door for a case that fits a Trace TA100R.

I've ordered from Ebay vendor "Island Case, New York Case, or My Case." I've called them too. Yes, they are the same company, and they make cases for other companies. They are from Long Island New York.

The difference is that one is low range, another is middle range and the last is full ATA. I think what ends up on ebay are case overruns that they want to get rid of, and if your careful you can get a deal.

I needed a case for my keyboard (Korg X2), and I told them my needs, and they said the cheapest way to do this is to just wait till there's a case that'll come close to fitting your unit and then buy it. If they make it expressily for you, it'll double the price.

I wound up buying the cheapest unit, which was a middle range case. It's almost ATA and I bought some polyfoam insulation from Lowes and cut it into shape where there are gaps. Works fine.

The only issue I have is that the keyboard weighs 35 lbs, and the case weighs 15lbs. It is thus too heavy to lug around on a regular basis. I put on wheels, which helps, but it's still on monster.

If I were to do it again I'd get their light weight tuff box unit. At least I'd save 5lbs.

My recommendation:

Since your dealing with a mixer, I'd get a middle of the range case that would come as close as possible to fitting your unit, pad it out with polyfoam, put on a sturdy handle from home depot (some metal thing) and then add small industrial casters (also from home depot). Then get a strap or an old belt and you can drag it around.

PS I paid $39 for the case, and shipping was $38.

Thanks for the feedback Rick. As long as the quality was what you expected,

Final feedback. The case took 5+ weeks to ship from the factory. It arrived without the wheels. Corners are split and very sharp. I guess you get what you pay for. I wouldn't buy from them again.
