Joined: February 2004 Posts: 70 Location: kansas | What is the material used on Ovations for the Nut & Saddle? Is it plastic/tusq/bone or something else? I'm certain the nut & saddle material on the Applause's that I owned were made of plastic. It may be different for different models but that info isn't advertised very much... thanks in advance for any news on this subject. later...

The nut only works when it's an open string. Bone tends to wear better over the years whereas the Delrin and get cut down from the strings sawing them over the years. Unless you use the special Nut adapted string tubes.

Joined: February 2004 Posts: 70 Location: kansas | Replacement Ovation nut: TUSQ PQ-6114-00 I saw it on E-bay... The Ovation saddle that I've being working with, seems a bit non-standard? length - width - height 2 3/4" x 9/32" x TBD compensated bridge at both E strings a replacement saddle may require using a Bone/Tusq Blank and going from there. later...

Bone and ivory are ideal but the difference between bone and ivory in terms of density is hardly worth considering, given that bone is a whole lot cheaper and easier to get hold of.
