Location: GA USA | Coincidentally, my first real concert was also in 1977, Queen with Thin Lizzie. If you look up videos of that tour, Brian May also played an Ovation 12 string on the song '39. |

Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | I resemble that remark...My first concert was in 1968: Three Dog Night and the Turtles. I got to go backstage...Mike Alsup played a Gibson SG Standard and a black Les Paul Custom...The band was great (harmonies and they rocked). In 1974 (April 6th) I was Emmerson Lake and Palmer at California Jam along the Eagles and black Sabbath and over 300,000 others in attendance. Keith Emmerson was lifted over 40 feet in the air and spun around while playing a huge grand piano! It was great! I saw Clapton in Nashville in 1990 just a month before the concert in Chicago where Stevie Ray Vaughn died. He was fantastic! Because of my own touring schedule from 1976 until 1993, I rarely had a chance to go to hear a concert; but I got to meet many artists and bands at the hotels before and after...all in all, I have been blessed and have great memories...and I have yet to see Tommy Emmanuel so I'm looking forward to that! But I did go to the tour in May!!!

It was about that time that I started to suspect that "Girls on Film" and "Rio" were just a beard and that Simon Le Bon had a "special relationship" with George Michaels. NTTAWWT.
Similarly, INXS were great until they put out that silly "Kick" album. There were a couple of good tracks on there, but everything after that, including that insipid "reality" show, was bollocks (see, Fred!)...and not the dog's.
Hall & Oates were just lame. I always pronounced it, "Haulin' oats," but I'm sure that's not unique. There was this chick that had a crush on me that would call the house all the time and play "You Make My Dreams" over the phone. Ugh...now if she would've been this other chick...not that I should've been picky. But, if I knew then what I know now...

Location: Cicero, NY | Can't recall who coined it but after they covered "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" some genius dubbed them the Self-Righteous Brothers. I still chuckle over that one. On the flip side, I always thought Hall had a great voice - it was the writing that brought it crashing down to me. |

Location: Minden, Nebraska | Just saw the Ovation 12 in Brian May's hands on VH-1's Classic Albums, featuring Queen's 'Night at the Opera'. He was doing the riff from 39, and it was a great sounding Legend or Custom Legend 12.
Classic Albums is a great series, by the way, for me at least. |
