Did already research different places, but couldn't find help/solution. I have year old 1778T-5X with OP-Pro preamp. Noticed some time time ago, when trying to use tuner it doesn't work anymore. When I push tune -button, battery phantom flashes once and after that up- and down-arrows starts to flash in turn. Nothing else. The arrows flashes some time or I can stop the flashing by pushing tune -button again for 2 seconds.

Changing battery doesn't help. Anybody have similar experiences? Any help would be highly appericiated.

Welcome aboard. Does it work properly in all other capacities?

Did you try a new battery? Sometimes these electronic thingies go haywire when the voltage drops a little.

The battery in my OP dies REALLY quickly. Pop in a new one, if it works, be ready for frequent battery changes - wheter it gets used or not.

I have tested with three new batteries. It shouldn't be battery problem, but I'm not sure.

Tested following:
- Used external tuner and the signal was there. Worked allright.
- Plugged to my Marshall AS100D, no signal at all. Tried various combinations with pre-amp buttons/switches.
- Plugged other guitars to same Marshall AS100D jack and no problem.
- Unplugged and plugged again 1778T-5X to Marshall AS100D and Marshall recognized the instrument, which is normal ("crash-bum-bang").
- Adjusted the OP-Pro volume maximum and Marshall started to buzz more, so some signal went through.

So, I really don't know if it's a battery or not. Maybe I need to buy 5 new batteries and test them all, which is stupid. I'm really disappointed since after 2 months hardwork period I finally have couple days to play some new stuff I have done (plugged with 1778T-5X). So, I was really looking forward to these days and now 1778T-5X lets me down.

You might check the jack/plug where the pickup plugs into the preamp. Get your hand in the guitar and turn or pull it out and reinsert it. (I think it's like a 1/16" plug) It may be corroded or dirty and not passing a full signal.

Do you have an XLR output and amp with phantom power? If you have the output, amp, and cable (with pin one connected to ground) you can power the preamp externally. If that works, then you are having battery problems.

If that doesn't work, it may be the preamp. Email Kim Keller (kkeller-kmc@kaman.com) at ovation and he'll fix it.

C major to everybody! Regarding to my problems with OP-Pro - just to let you know, that preamp and pickup were replaced under the warranty for my 1778T-5X by 'Musik Mayer', which is in charge of distribution and marketing here in central Europe. I got also new case for the guitar, since the guitar case lock was broken down when I opened it first time. I hope the new OP-Pro will be more long lasting.
