Joined: August 2007 Posts: 5 Location: Rocky Mount, NC | I just picked up a Matrix model 1132 12 string. Looking for any information about this model and where I could find parts to restore it. I only know it was made in "80 and 81", but I don't know how many were made. I am looking for a saddle since the one on it is obviously from a 6 string. Also need to replace the sound hole trim. Other then that, it sound and plays great! Fast neck, low action and stays in tune. If anyone has parts or info I would be interested. Thank you !

The saddle on my 6 string is a thinline that seems to be just like any of the others made by Ovation. If they used the same saddles for all 12 strings, you should be able to pick one up from the factory. What makes you think it should be different? I'm going to go home and check my Balladeer 12 to see if I can see a difference. You'll have a tough time finding any other parts. If it has the aluminum fretboard, be sure not to wear out the frets.

The difference I see in the saddle from 12 to 6 is that the saddle is about 1/8" longer on a 12 string. I took the saddle into the guitar center and could see the difference when held next to an ovation 12string model.

You could probably just get a blank from someone like Stew Mac, and make one that would work. I assume you say the one that's on yours is 6 string, as their must be grooves? Maybe it was original and someone just made grooves that you could file down & make it smooth again. Then shim it up if it was a bit too low.

But I had just picked this Matrix up late Friday and was anxious to get any info I could over the weekend. I wasn't offended by his suggestion just a little disappointed. I'm sure he laughed at my remark in return, so lets just get back to what this site is about. Since this post has gotten more feedback on a comment then the actual question that was posted. My public apologies Mr.Kaman

Has anyone else ever seen another Medallion? It's odd and amazing some of the one-off instruments, or short run instruments that have passed through eBay, yet two things I have yet to see on eBay are a Medallion and an Ovation microphone. :(
