It is one of my favorite stories, about downtown new york.
Great scene in the Tombs, where Bartleby dies: The Tombs, for a while, was called the Bernard Kerick Memorial Complex. Talk about irony. |

I don't think it would be a direct reference to the biblical 'Bartleby' (-the gospel according to Kevin Smith) and I don't think it's the name of a founder/benefactor... |
