Well I did it! Brought home the 1617 Legend I asked for opinions on yesterday. Stayed up late playing her, boy what a sweet guitar. No fretwear to speak of; action's set really low with no fret buzz - haven't measured the string height but the gap at fret 12 on bass E can't be more than 3 playing cards' worth; warm, ringing tone, (EnfentTerrible was dead-on about a 'chimey' quality). Came with extra-light strings (.10), so I need to change those to .12 tonight, when I'll clean 30 years' worth of finger grime off the fretboard. The tone knob may be beyond hope, so if anybody can point me to whom I need to contact at the mothership for a new one I'd appreciate it. Here's some pics:

The burst is a dead ringer for the vintage Gibson archtop sunburst. Really classy! Congrats.

Thanks, folks. Just sent mail to the mothership about replacement knobs. Gotta get back to play!
