(I know, that sounds like a song title)… It’s been quite a while since I’ve had to deal with this issue, and I have forgotten… What is the best way to remove superglue residue from a guitar top, without messing up the finish? I had my 1537-4 completely gone over and refinished a while back my the mothership… a month ago I came around a corner going off stage and ran into the corner of a keyboard someone left set up in the hallway. It left a ding in my top, which turned into a 1” finish crack, that has now turned into a 3” finish crack.??????????????? I quickly slapped some super glue in the crack when I noticed it getting longer, but didn’t stop to think about how I was going to remove the leftover residue. What works best for superglue removal without affecting the finish?

Currently in the BFLG forum Arumako is just now entering into the CA glue residue topic on the top of the 1115 he is working on. Lots of it on there. So if you haven't seen it already maybe tune in there to observe his procedure.

Technically speaking, acetone will dissolve dried CA.

It'll take a while, though.

Should not attack the polyester finish, but as always, test on a hidden area first.

On another note, I would also check inside to make sure the bump didn't knock any braces loose.
