Location: Texas | I’m vigorously shopping for a deep bowl 12 string. Hoping to find Elite shotgun holes style. Found one on eBay but it ships from Japan. Kinda concerned about that much travel? Anybody have experience with this? Hoping to find one fast.
On another note, I ran a into Dave Kell at hardware store a few weeks ago. Someone in Nashville is recording two of his songs on their second album. He’s tickled because they changed one up so drastically he doesn’t recognize it anymore he said. I’m glad I met him and got turned onto Ovation. He’s a very friendly guy. He’s recovering from a third surgery to put more hardware in his spine. He got a big settlement from the wreck he had and bought a beautiful bus rv. Thanks for any help on 12 string. |

Location: moline, illinois | Bought a couple from overseas its not the travel as Beal noted its the cost, they may try to stick you with customs fees on top of shipping, another thing to consider is making sure the guitar is accurately described even if they offer refunds you could get stuck for return shipping costs so figure once you buy its yours.
What are you looking for an Elite 1758 12 string I'm guessing

Location: Phoenix AZ | I bought a guitar on eBay from Japan and it was simple as pie. $125 USD shipping and I had it in 6 days. No customs hassle or fees, it just showed up on my doorstep. I would do it again in a heartbeat BUT ... you need to go into it with the attitude that if something really goes tits up you will be out the entire amount you paid and probably never see a penny of it back. So just make sure it's "throw away" money. |

Location: Yokohama, Japan | Hi Ellem Ennopee, Exactly what Standingovation says. Make sure the shipper knows how to submit CITES documents in Japan if there's any rosewood of any kind on the guitar. Been hearing of some folks who had their instrument confiscated because of Ebony. Some times things will get by without incident, sometimes you'll be slapped with import/export charges, sometimes it gets confiscated. With complex lumber export laws and lumber illiterate customs agents, there's no guarantee that you'll get the item without some amount of risk. Good luck! |

Location: Moscow, Russia | Dear Elem, I recommend you skip exactly that 1758-5 - condition is poor for asked dollars.
Time to time they pop up in the US - matter of time.
Best,
