GEWA also has a big presence in Asian production, but I am hopeful that they will at least try to expand on models and possibly produce something USA-made in their Maryland facility.. or maybe even something Euro-made in Germany. Could be that Bernie and Detlef will end up sitting on Ovation ground zero should any such type endeavor ever possibly come to be.

I think the brand will be around for years to come and will likely have some wonderful "made in korea" guitars. But I think anything that resembles an Adamas, anything "hand made," has numbered days at least for the near-term. Maybe 5, 10 or 15 years from now there will be a revival, but I can't see anyone running a factory for round-back guitars in the USA anytime soon, especially CT.

I would think it will take many more nails than what have already been driven. What is blatantly obvious however is that the day-to-day-buy-it-on-Sweetwater for $1,200 or less guitars (of any brand) will never see a USA production plant again. Economically impossible. But it's not to say that the Asian-built Ovations aren't quality guitars for their price. They are. I just hope that GEWA will introduce some evolution to the selection of those models so we can see new ones come and old ones go. As for 'possible' USA-made (GEWA has a shop in Maryland), and Euro-made (they have a shop in Germany), maybe we will see some limited-number models like DW did with the anniversary. We can only speculate and hope. If so, just bring a fat checkbook if you want one. I mean, what industry in what market HASN'T gone that way? When's the last time you saw a USA Kirby vacuum for $239.99? It's life on Earth. All of us old geezers should be glad that we were born when we were and have lived in a time to enjoy an abundance of what was available during that glory era.. 'cause it sure in hell isn't coming back. On the bright side, it is us same geezers who are taking care of and preserving what we have from those years and trading them among us.. and for my share of that I am grateful.
