Location: Nashville, TN | I noticed with the 3 different color Viper EAs I have each one plays, sounds & responds differently when plugged in..the natural seems to be louder even with the same guage strings on all of them..I can tell the thickness of the wood is different on the three tops..the orange, blue & natural...I don't have a black one..would that be different or more like the natural?..I also notice the natural feedsback more than the other..I think:-(...are the 'sound cavitys' the same size? Thanx Dan |

Location: Tennessee | Probably has more to do with the top woods ... maple, tamo ash, and spruce. Black is also spruce so likely will be more like the natural than the others. The cavities are all the same size, but with any man made object, they will all have variances. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Could it have anything to do with battery signal strength or string height? I was exchanging e-mails with Roger recently and he suggested I lower the pickups to the same height as the surrounds on my full-bodied Epiphone archtop jazz guitar. What a difference that made in creating a wonderful warm tone. I ended up choosing it over all the other archtops in the bandroom for our recent jazz concert. Maybe there are some slight variations in the pickup sensitivity. I can imagine that variation of materials, particularly the top, would have an impact on tone, but I thought amplified volume relied more on the pickups and preamp electronics. |
