For me ADM's Ovation sound was always better than JM's steel sound. Just my opinion. And let's not forget Larry Coryell's great sound on Meeting of the Spirits.

I bet it's a Balladeer. Our Frechie scholar also omits to note that throughout the 80s JM played nylon O's off and on. On the later Trio recordings as well as on "Friday Night" he did NOT play a steel string Ovation Legend. In fact, for me, the high point of JMs career is Shakti and the early Trio stuff. Then he settles in to less distinctive nylon romance.... Schroeder: Larry's sound on "Meeting of the Sprits" is terrible. Are you being sarcastic? As for JM, "My Goal's Beyond" sports very nice tone indeed. The Wechters, I agree, are breathtaking on early Shakti.

His playing suffered and so did his tone. JUST LOOK at the video: he is stoned and misses cues. A few months later he was booted out and Al DiMeola was brought on board. This was actually one of Larry's worst cosmic moments and finally kicked him in the ass enough to quit drinking. Really!

I don't know much about the guitar, but I found this thread looking for info on the preamp used in it. Mine appears to be heading south... I can't get rid of the distortion... even with a new battery! Any of you experts have any thoughts? 1st View 2nd View

But Paul, you failed to express it in your usually "witty" and "bold" way; While I am not trying to encourage, there are those who may be agast that it is without your usual "color" and "phrasing"...lol "If you get my meaning; if you get my drift..."
