I believe that the previous owner has passed-on and his son sold me this. So, he didn't really clean it before selling it. There is "salt" residue on the lower bout where your sweaty arm would rest. But I will be cleaning this soon. Now to the BFLG question... My "cat's eye" is coming loose. How do I fix this? What glue? Crazy Glue? Because the Fret-ends are sticking out a bit, I think that this needs to be humidified. Once I humidify this, do you think that the Ebony on the Cat's Eye will grow with humidity and flatten out the rosette? Educated input is greatly appreciated. I need to get back to playing with my New Toy. Oh, is it supposed to be darker on the back of the headstock like this? Edited by Old Man Arthur 2018-07-10 2:39 PM

There are two pictures with something lose in the case, but I guess that's not what you're referring to. Is there a gap pictured in the lower part of the pictures? I think you should determine if the body is still flat or has sunk a bit which might cause the partial lifting of a "straight" decoration. A slightly sunk top could indicate a lose brace, which you can also look for easily.

I also figure that if you "drum" on an Adamas top you can hear a loose brace. Oh, and that "something loose in the case" is a wide cloth strap that came with the guitar. How much effort does it take to press the cat's eye back down so it makes contact with the top? The ebony might expand with added humidity. If it's pretty easy to push down to make contact with the top, I would just glue it, then humidify the guitar. I would use 5-minute epoxy rather than CA for this job. I recommend epoxy over CA because you'll have some time to clean up any squeeze-out using denatured alcohol to wet out either a folded paper towel or a Q-tip. Also, the 5-minute epoxy will cure soon enough that you won't need to clamp anything. You can just hold it in place while the glue cures. This is how I glue on all of the rosettes I've done.

Actually, quite a bit. I mean, I can do it with one finger but... I think that it pulls-up hard enough to make it difficult to just hold it down with Crazy Glue. It has a bit of "spring" to it. But it doesn't buzz when playing the guitar. So maybe I shouldn't be stressing-out about it. But, Y'know... You get an used guitar and you look for what is wrong with it. And I had tuned-it-up and was playing it when I looked down and saw that. Oh, and HERE is the photo that I should have taken before. And that is about as far as I can push that bill into the "un-glued" space. Also... As far as the Humidity thing goes... or the Lack of Humidity. This guitar came from Sedona Arizona. Does it have a back door so you can see what's inside? Edited by d'ovation 2018-07-10 4:34 PM

Ever wonder what is inside of an Adamas 2080? Not "Adamas Bracing"... X-Bracing. Beal - 2018-07-10 3:59 PM Thanks! Mine came loose too. A little super glue with one of the StewMac needle nozels and do it from in the hole, not from over the top. I think that I am going to wait to see what some humidity does before I glue anything. The new strings on your 2080 are clearly sounding brand new and crisp, so if the 1681 had new strings it would probably boost my vote even higher on that one. The brand new Seagull sounds and looks to be a great value for the price as well. I always have envy of your awesome stash of guitars! Edited by Love O Fair 2018-07-10 10:31 PM

It is starting to Buzz Why now? I am thinking that as the increased humidity in my neck-o-the-woods caused the Ebony in the rosette to swell it brought the pointy-end of the Cat's Eye closer to the top. So, now it buzzes on certain notes. Also, the Fret-ends that were sticking-out have retreated into the fingerboard. Tomorrow I should receive some thin CA Glue and some "whip tips" in the mail. Although I may just end-up using a needle like FlySig said. I am looking forward to this.
