I had this on some Ovations before, but I never used the other guitars amplified. But this guitar is such wonderful player that I want to use it also with amp. It has the 2-knob FET preamp from the old Adamas guitars.
On this one the pickup works only with the strings 2-4-6, both on the stereo and mono output. I am a complete idiot with electronics but maybe it is only a small failure.
I would never need the stereo wiring, if it would work mono on all strrings it would be ok.
Where to begin?

If one leg of the pickup (strings 1-3-5) is bad, or if the connection cable/jack to the pre-amp (strings 1-3-5) is bad the preamp will only output strings 2-4-6. Weather you plug into the mono or stereo jack will not matter, you will only hear strings 2-4-6. Start by checking that the cables from the pickup are plugged firmly and cleanly in to the pre-amp.

Are the electronics the original one or the new 2 knobber from 2004?

Thanks for your help, I will check carefully cables first. Maybe I can try to put the pickup cable in the Adamas preamp to check if the pickup itself is bad or not. How can I see which preamp it is? It´s only black tin boxes for me. It looks like the one I have in my Adamas.

Is it the original that came with the guitar, to the best of your knowledge? If so, I'd consider replacing the p/u first. If that doesn't work, then start looking at the preamp.

If it's a newer system (reissue from 2004 forward), then it may be the preamp.

I found it. It was only a cable problem. Hard to believe, but there are obviously even worse electricians than myself. Someone wanted to make a mono-connection out of the old stereo, but worked it out so poorly that I could manage it easily and now it all works fine. Thank you for your help, I needed this to encourage me to "undress" the electric mess.
And again I must say that an amplified guitar only sounds good when it also sounds good acoustically.
