Value to a potential buyer is a very personal and subjective thing. There is a (very) short list of Ovations that would separate me from five grand and no disrespect but a black 87 Collector isn't on that list.

I loved black guitars all my life, possibly due to Gibson's Les Paul Custom Black Beauty, and I like the -5 O's as well.... This was a nice run beside the natural version of 87C. But the price is... uhhhh.... optimistic!? At least we got to see the pictures...

I'm not a fan of black guitars, mostly because I can't keep them clean, so the relative rarity was not a draw for me. My 87C is now my daughter's and I hope that the market value skyrockets so she can sell it for a bunch of money after I die.

BUT... if I were to send Pepiak $5k and tell him to choose something(s) nice to send back, when the box arrived I'm pretty certain its contents would make me happier than this would. PS: Right, Al?
