I can't find any info on when this guitar was made. Anyone have any info? Thanks! (gc small.jpg) Attachments ---------------- gc small.jpg (62KB - 2 downloads)

Additionally, if that is an 1127, that would fit production wise also. Otherwise, I am not sure.

It is possible that the Neck is from the 60's and it guitar went back to the MotheShip for work in the 70's and then it got that Silver Label. Just Guessing.

The highest serial numbers with the number stamped in the neck block are in the 14,000+ range, as is the case with the Cat Stevens guitar. This feature ended when the silver foil labels appeared in late 1971 or early 1972. So, there is only one possible answer to the question of dating this guitar. OMA is correct. This guitar was, undoubtedly, sent back to the factory for repair sometime during the foil label period, and the original paper label was replaced with the foil label. It was very common in the 1970's for the factory to replace labels when repairs were made due to missing or damaged labels. A serial number of 8118 indicates that the guitar was produced in the period of late 1969 or early 1970.

But the guitar screams that year. 1969 would have had a 5 point braz bridge or, more likely, a winged bridge. The headstock looks like walnut, not darkened brazilian rosewood. 1973.
