Does it have a label inside?

It looks like someone put a custom fretboard or inlaid a tree of life on a Celebrity fretboard.

This is in the Sacramento Craigslist. I heard back from the owner who says:

'It is an ovation celebrity elite that I bought approximately 16 years ago brand-new. The label inside the sound holes was blacked out to eliminate the white glare through the sound holes on stage (back when I actually played it) so I can't see the number."

He says he paid about $600 and is advertising it for $300.

From the looks of the neck inlay, I was hoping it was a higher model than a Celebrity.

The shape of the fretboard extension says it's a Celebrity.

Here's an Elite. Notice the differences in profile of fretboard extension.

Like I say, it looks like someone had a custom tree of life inlay done on the fretboard.

It is a Celebrity Deluxe CS257 with aftermarket fret stickers.
It has an OP-24+ Preamp which means that if is from the 90's or before.
Looking at this listing, it looks like the saddle has been changed...
It doesn't have a compensated B string.
If you live close enough to go play it, bring an amp to see if it works.
I may be a good guitar for the price, with a case.... Or Not.
I would not buy that without trying it.

I'm surprised that the seller, who claims to be the original owner, isn't more forthcoming with actual details. I'm not in the market for a Celebrity so it's not worth the drive to Roseville. If the fretboard design is an actual inlay it would be a very nice looking guitar but stickers definitely don't cut it.

His reference to a "Celebrity elite" and blocking out the label to eliminate glare on stage, would cause me some doubt.
