Often it is caused by sudden temperature changes.
Did you bring it inside from the cold?
How can you know if the wood cracked?
Does the crack follow the wood grain? If not it is probably just in the finish.
If it does follow the grain, shine a flashlight into the body while you are in a dark room.
Also get a small mirror and look inside.
As to what you can do about it?
Some of the smarter people here can tell you that.
If the wood is cracked you could glue a "cleat" to the crack from the inside.
If it is just in the finish, there is a way to fix that but it requires talent that I don't have.
So long as the guitar still plays, you can just live with it and know not to do whatever you did again.
