Saying someone is the best guitar player is pretty subjective, but you can't argue that Al is one of the most technically proficient guitarists ever to hold ANY six string.
This is why Ovation for me. I can't imagine attempting this on a Martin D28. The playability of an Ovation is heads and shoulders above the rest.

Rick Hall had mentioned what I thought was the perfect marketing campaign for Ovation. Via a sticker or two, above and below the 3rd fret stating "If you play here (referring to frets 1 thru 3) there are lots of choices. If you play here (pointing to the rest of the neck) there is only one choice... Ovation"

Watching Al DiMeola play is probably the single biggest reason i was drawn to Ovation, the beauty both musically and visually of his Custom Legend enthralls me and led me to eventually get my very own 1769 AD-II.
Once you listen to and play a deep bowl Ovation it sells itself and though this probably belongs in another thread it's the reason we need to get the new USA Ovations into stores so people can play and fall in love with them all over again.
