Despite the nasty weather during last week in North Texas, my 'new' Viper finally arrived. This thing is absolutely mint. My memory of the first one I had back in the early '80's has faded. What then was 'thin' and 'shrill', sort of ice pick, has turned to 'percussive' and 'punchy' with some nice crunch when needed. Before it arrived, I also ordered pickguard material and a couple of alnico 5 mini 'buckers, just in case... Now, I may still build another setup, but I am really enjoying what I am hearing. Wow...

Don't you dare change that thing! It looks perfect. No crack on the bottom of the pickguard and even the original knobs.

Thought I would hear that, I was really surprised at how clean this thing was. It could have been played once and put away. If I build another pickguard assembly, the only thing that will be touched is the ground to bridge. If the original assembly can't come off intact, and if the mounting holes can't be matched exactly, it will stay as is. And, as it is, I am enjoying the the guitar too much, and have a 'few' other guitars to play to want to mess with it any time soon.

Ok, I can't seem to be able to post more than one picture per post at a time, what am I missing?
