| How do you tell the difference between lower end and higher end models that look very similar ? |

Newer Ovation have the Serial Number stamped in the back of the headstock along with "USA".
Older USA Ovation have a five-piece neck, with double stripes down the back.
There are other differences, but those are two quick ones.

| Thanks , that helps. I don't think it has double stripes it might not be made in USA .. it has gold tuners and it is black with multi hole epaulets ( like brown leaves) . I cant find anything online that looks like it exactly..most have chrome tuners. the guitar is being set up now so i cant see the serial number. Yes, when i posted it gave me option to add file after I posted but then there was nowhere to do that. |

I can tell by the shape of the end of the fingerboard.
Maybe someone else might be able to tell you what model it is...
That is an older Celebrity by the preamp. (maybe an Applause?)
