Hello Ovations Fans,

While searching for a vintage custom legend, I stumbled into the OFC site about 6 weeks ago. I couldn't believe my good fortune in meeting such friendly people willing to help in my search. The day after I joined a member offered to help me buy a guitar in Boise (thanks Mark!). Within the first week, Serge (aka g8r) sent me a link to another guitar for sale. Other members have kept an eye out for me in trying to locate my "white whale", a deep bowl vintage custom legend with a natural finish. In desparation I posted another "guitar wanted" blog a few days ago. Again, the OFC members came through, and to my good luck, playeradamas, who lives only 30 miles away, offered to sell me one of his special guitars. I cannot thank you all enough. In this busy life, its great to meet people so willing to help out eachother. I will stay a member for life. Below is the link to photos of a guitar I will never sell. Thanks Michael. Merry Christmas to everyone and Happy New Year.

Always happy to contribute to an Ovation obsession. You found a beauty, Jeff. Congratulations, but be careful. GAS has no cure.

jeffeman - SUH-WEEEET! Congratulations, man, that is great news. Even better that you got one "in the family." She is beautiful. Now we need to get together sometime and compare. Jeff in Central FL is bringing his -5 lefty over for the jam in about 3 weeks. Maybe we can meet up at the 2008 OFC Factory Tour (hint, hint Al!).

I love these storys.
I also hear them a lot about the OFC, not so much other forums.
This is a great bunch of people here.

Excellent! That's a unique Custom Legend. The original tone/volume preamp and Stereo as well...

Geez, Jeff. You had it and didn't even know it? I noticed the stacked tone knob as well. What year is it? I would assume it was one of the very early ones.

Not that you need to feel even better, but it looks like it's in better shape than the one I saw, which looked awfully good.

The serial number is 307957, so I'm guessing its 1985-86? The label is white/blue and the rosette is raised. She is nearly mint condition, one small nick in the finish near where are pick guard would be.

Regarding GAS, I have had it for awhile now. Fortunately my wife has been understanding (so far). The seller let me play his wonderful slothead Adamas with a walnut neck. Talk about sweet! I'm starting to feel the GAS for an Adamas. Maybe next X-mas?

Jeff, your wife is not the problem. Please don't get tempted by the OFC members. There is a conspiracy and GAS becomes an addiction. Look at me...in less than 3 months I bought 3 O's and sold off one Celebrity. It is not normal. These OFC members are like Free Masons, or the Knight of the Templars or something sinister like that. Won't say Opus Dei, since I am a Catholic. Friend, mark my word, lest it comes to haunt you!!!  ;)

You have the same symptoms I had, except I started on a Celebrity and fairly rapidly worked my way up. I let a Taylor owner play my OFC yesterday and I think he was hooked, even though he wouldn't say so.

Talk about conspiracy...my life goal is to become a full member of OFC and I am crazily typing away during X-mas holiday. See what I mean!

Don't set your goals too high or you will always be disappointed. One of each model would be good or you could even limit it to the USA models. I tried for one of each bowl size, but didn't like the feel of the contour bowl, so I gave up on that. One of each neck size would be very frugal. Or you could try for one of each electric model, like Miles has. I thought that one would be feasible until I saw Miles' site.

Congratulations, Jeff! Beautiful guitar. I kinda feel like you, me and g8r have become bonded by our mutual Custom Legend jones. Remember when the three of us posted a few weeks back of our desires to acquire one? Well, it looks like we each got the guitar we wanted. I just love happy endings! :)

Congrats again, and enjoy!
