Location: Fort Worth, TX | I'm having a blast with my new Acoustic amp and my cedar top Balladeer Special learning blues played with a pick. I've about decided I started way too late in life to master fingerstyle blues playing, but I gave it a helluva try. I recently came across an instructional DVD from Toby Walker called Take a Solo where he and Happy Traum demonstrate concepts on how to structure solos on the fly. It is hands down the best instructional material I've ever used. My blues playing is taking off after only a few sessions with it. Toby asked me if he could use my comments about it on his website and said Happy Traum wanted to use them as well on the Homespun site. If you have ever wished you could develop the capability of ripping off a solo playing the blues I can't recommend this DVD highly enough. Learning to improvise has never been so easy and well explained! Can be bought here: http://www.homespuntapes.com/Instructors/toby-walker. WHen I bought it he had a special going on where you got a free CD of his music. If you google him and find his website it may still be going on. |
