Location: Jet City | The newest OpPro ones are good, but I tend to like the Optima and Op50 better.
Specifically, I'm glad I have the older Al DiMeola Custom Legend (not the ADII) because it has an Optima. It's also the preamp in my R869 Custom Legend/Synth, the "Book" Elite and I'm sure there's another somewhere.
I only had one time with an Op50, and I really liked it. With the help of MWoody, I upgraded a 1667 Legend's stacked knob preamp (located in the waist) to the Op50, and WOW! Night and day plugged in.
Unfortunately I sold the guitar... to Alison actually :D |

Location: SoCal | I like the OP Pro for it's simplicity. It's very similar to the OP 24 except it has a tuner and preset circuit used by several endorsees. I'd be happy with either the OP Pro or OP 24.
Doesn't the OP Pro Studio have phantom power issues? |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | I like the OP-30.
I have an OP-40 too, which has a Notch Filter...
But I prefer the OP-30.
Why? The OP-30 has a High Output which is advantageous if you are using a battery-powered amp.
The OP-30 has Pre-Shape and EQ in/out, which are good for quick, no-brainer, changes.
And it has a tuna.
Side-note... The OP24 is powerful and the battery will last forever.
(I also own OP-Pro, OP-Pro Studio, VIP, iDea, Optima, TS, OP24, OP-24+... I still like the OP-30. )

Location: Long Island, N.Y. | thank you every one for your comments and opinions. I have had a handful of C.L.`s, Adamas, korean celebrity`s and a `87 I think I like the op24+ the best and the op24 comes in second. I was thinking of modding my `82 1619 with a op24+ or an optima pre amp but not sure if I should do it being they dont make these any longer and prolly should keep it all original. I was also thinking about maybe putting this fine `82 up for trade or sale for a 95/96 cherry or natural 1769 C.L. Being I will be going back to playing much more lead work in the very near future and would prefer a cutaway. |
