I have owned this guitar since 2003, but do not play it as I gave up trying to learn the guitar. It has just been lying around in its case so I have decided to sell it. This guitar is in excellent condition. The Ovation Model 1866 12 string guitar was a well-made, classic instrument that many musicians hold in high regard. They are very hard to find as this model has been discontinued. The serial Number is 395529 which I believe dates it to the 1989-1990 build date, although Ovation built this guitar from 1989-2004, and then again from 2006-2007.
The Ovation 1866 12 string was built with some of the highest-end materials. First of all, like all Ovations, it features a Lyrachord composite back and sides that minimize the need for excessive internal bracing that absorbs sound in traditional wooden guitars. The top of the 1866 is grade AA solid spruce with A-type bracing that delivers the warmth and sustain that guitar players love. A hand-laid rosette of oak-leaves adorns the sound hole. The neck of the 1866 is built to withstand the extra tension that 12 strings put on it by encasing a solid mahogany core around alternating layers of laminate and rock maple. The resulting neck is extremely strong and still has a bright tone. Under the hood, the 1866 boasts a very powerful OP-24+C preamp and a TruBalance pickup. The scale length is 25 1/4 and the nut width is 1 7/8. This guitar has the gold tuners and ebony inlay on the fret-board and is in excellent condition. The 1866 has a shallow bowl which makes it much easier to handle and play. Guitar has the original hard shell case with padded insert. You can reply direct to mikerushbrook@austin.rr.com if interested. Any shipping costs to be paid by buyer.

Nice guitar ... good luck with the sale. Just a quick note - your preamp is an OP-24 (not the later OP-24+C) and an OPP pickup, not the TruBalance. Most old timers would say what you've got is way better.

Thank you for the feed back,, I believe I originally got the tech details from Ovation but bow to your expertise. I will change the add. It is a nice guitar, I just cannot play it well. Similar I have a beautiful Taylor 815ce that has hardly been played. I bought them both thinking that in my retirement I would take up a hobby that I had when I was in my teens. Turns out that I am not a musician. I also have a nice electric guitar that I will keep that will keep me happy strumming away.

Best regards

Looks like I cannot re-edit the original post. Please take note of Stonebobbo comments re "...your preamp is an OP-24 (not the later OP-24+C) and an OPP pickup, not the TruBalance..."

Thanks
