Joined: December 2007 Posts: 150 | Well, just spoke to the wife and the guitar is there. A few questions though. What is the best way to store it? Should I leave it in the case or hang it. If I hang it, will it cause any problems? I'm assuming it should not be a humid room or big swings in temp. Should I put a dehumidifier in it either way? If I do hang it, what type/brang hanger works best with the ovations. (This is a SS) What's the best way to clean the Textured Top? Thanks, Justin

I think the brand I use is String Swings or something like that. They're pretty sturdy and simple. A good Hercules stand would also work well as would a Hercules wall hanger. I can't tell you how to clean the textured top except to vacuum or otherwise dust it. Keep the humidity above 40. I would think that an in the guitar humidifier would work better if you only have one Adamas guitar hanging on the wall.

Too dry and a wood-top can buckle, bow, or even crack. Don't know if Adamii are as susceptible to drying out as wood-tops - others here know more than I do about that. Edit - the best wall hangars are Hercules.

Adamai are not really susceptible to the terrors of wood tops, but left in a bad environment long enough, I've seen plastic rust. And...a hanging guitar is a played guitar. Put it in the case, and it won't get used near as much. When they're just staring at you from the wall, it makes you more apt to pick them up. +1 on the Herc hangers.

I don't think they are as strong as the String Swings. One of the screws that came with the Hercs snapped off as I was screwing it in. I am sure that they are more than adequate and the little clamping fixture is kind of cool, but I prefer something that seems to be over engineered. Of course the strongest hanger isn't any good if it pulls out of the wall, so be sure you mount it correctly.

Should I put a dehumidifier in it either way? Since you don't know the humidity it makes no sense. Buy yourself a hygrometer. If it's too humid then put in descant, if a case; if a room, then a dehumidifier. It it's not humid enough, then put in an in case humidifier; or a room humidifier depending. If I do hang it, what type/brang hanger works best with the ovations. Herucles makes great stuff. What's the best way to clean the Textured Top? Dunlop 65. Good luck!

Joined: December 2007 Posts: 150 | Stand is definately not an option with a 3 and 5 year old running around. I will probably do the hanging. Just worried that it will get ruined. As far as a hygrometer, I'm sure I can find one pretty easy. I have a saltwater fish tank and plenty of people I know have 500 gallon+ systems which will simply peel the paint off your walls, mold, rust, etc...so I'm sure someone has one laying around. What range do I want it to be to just make sure everything is where it needs to be? Thanks everyone!
