Warning...this was not my understanding for prior on-line registrations. Went online to register (for warranty) a NOS Ovation from a dealer (Al). Per Ovation's website: "NOTE: Registering your products does not constitute a warranty registration." Yes, I know that there is a tear-off registration card but why register a new guitar if it doesn't register it for future warranty?

Your sales reciept is proof of warranty. You do not need to register.

Amazing that a company (Fender for guitars sold after purchase and assumption of prior liability) can use statements or offers (such as warranty) as inducement to buy. Martin did it in late '70's and early '80's by issuing only five year warranties, At least Martin later reissued the limited lifetime. Sending out several registration cards tonight but I wouldn't be surprised if they end up in a trash basket. I remember years ago when a gal told us about a problem on the OFC with her guitar that she had brought to her dealer - she needed the guitar that weekend. Kim had her card pulled for address and phone, contacted her and the store, had the store send the guitar to the factory, repaired...an example of the amazing service that we used to have.

Fortunately JB and the small crew down at mini mother still provide the same level of service we have all become use to. I recently had an issue with a guitar I bought from HD Custom in WI. Josh contacted his KMC rep, they shipped me another guitar immediately no questions asked, JB emailed me the next day and I dropped the questionable guitar off no questions asked. There are still good guys in the service channel who still care. As long as we keep sending them repair work, I think they will be around for a while, or at least that is my hope. Maybe we will get lucky and someone will buy KMC from "F" and keep service open and start building US made Ovations again, although most likely on a smaller scale.
