Comments from the past: "V" shaped neck, mid-depth cutaway body, Optima, per a listing by Elderly Instruments. From a German site MusicMeyer: "limited product of the Ovation Custom Shop from which only about ten guitars come to Germany. It is the first Adamas with Abalone inlays..." From John Budny: "We built about 75 of the Millennium guitars. They had a retail price of about $3,200. I say that because they were never in the price list or catalog. This was a low production limited edition piece really cool looking too as you know"

I got several chances to buy one, new as it were in the shops, used and NOS, when some shop digged one out years later. I played a few, but none of them did sound too good. According to looks, a keeper, but soundwise... And then, you'll have to admit: It's blue. Best regards, Kurt

Have ya seen any of these? http://www.ovationtribute.com/Catalogues/2000_Century_Jp_Catalog/2000_Century_Jp_Catalog.html Apparently made for the Japanese market and also have the planet inlays, but with "20th Century" inlaid into the 12th fret instead of "Millennium" ...and some different finishes too. Koenig Kurt - But still... remains a CVT. And never has or had that Adamas sound we're all after. Kurt, maybe the "Universe Memorial" (SMT) model would have the sound you like? ...finding one might be a bit of a challenge tho.

I saw a Millenium on sale in a music store in Tokyo several months ago, but I've never seen any of these! The brochure is so interesting because there are Ovation models and 1 Adamas model each with different characteristics. One of my friends has a Nakao Elite (USA made for Japanese market), and that is one of the nicest sounding and playing Ovations I've heard to-date. Unfortunately, the top and bowl separated several months ago. History seems to indicate that Ovation had a good run in Japan. The Pinnacle Series that were built here are well built, and they have a good reputation. I wonder if anyone around here in the OFC can comment on what it was like getting the Japanese to build these guitars. Of course, the USA Ovations are still very much respected. I wonder how many of these 20th Century Models were actually made and sold. It would be cool to find out. They must be awful rare...something to dig for in the archives, perhaps?
