The tone of the 12 fretter is nothing like anything else in the bandroom. My description would be mellow. The looks are absolutely stunning. Folks who recognize the brand are full of questions about this guitar. Now that I know more are available, I will refer them to the LAV website.

Still have a few of these available.

the last 12 fret sold on monday. If you are a 14 fret person and many of you are because you told me you will want one of these.

I sincerely doubt I will ever be able to get these guitars done ever again and if I did the price would be cost prohibitive.

YOU NEED ONE OF THESE

It was tough choosing between the 12 and the 14s. It would have been easier if the 14s had a skinny neck, but I finally went with the 12 because, with the cutaway it still had several more frets than I will ever use. I am also a convert to the contour bowl after a couple years of resistance. For those of you with friends, it would be great to show them the back of the headstock where it says "__/12". A rare collector that sounds so good it deserves all the play time you can give it.

Time to review this posting November 14, 2007, last post September 24, 2008.

I just traded a great Adamas 1687-8 reissue with Al for a new #02 (built October 25, 2007). It arrived this evening.

#02 of 12, custom slothead, tortoise binding, signed by Darren Wallace, wide neck, VIP pre-amp, both gorgeous and a great 'voice' even though it has been in a case. Koa opens up a little slower than spruce - looking forward to it after open air and playing. I love it already. I have a number of great guitars (five are Koa). I don't count my wife's Celeb 'palm tree' parlor with matching tenor uke.

My understanding is that even after all of these years, voiced complaints/concerns about Fender/Ovation guitars, that Al still has several available (with warranty).

This is like finding a treasure chest...get one if you can. I don't see how this opportunity will ever be available again.

I managed to swing a buy/trade for #1 of 12. I have a lot of nice Ovations, and I cannot compliment this instrument enough. Within my collection, it has a unique voice and feel. I wanted to get one from Al for years, but could never quite swing the cash. BELIEVE ME, I would have pulled the trigger a long time ago if I could have.

So thanks again MWoody! I still think you were nuts for loosening the leash on this one, but that doesn't mean I'm not grateful.

Great guitar. I have #6. I think they take a while to open up. It was nice when I got it, but sounds even better now.
