I'm a 61-year-old guy from Phoenix, AZ. I started with classical guitar, and bought my first Ovation around 1972-73, I would think: a 1122 Classic Balladeer. Still have that guitar, and it's gone everywhere with me. I bought a couple of Martins (an HD-35 and a D12-28) a while back, but I am reminded of why I liked my Ovation so much all those years: I wasn't terrified of scratching it. There's something to be said for that parabolic Lyrachord back. It's been banged on table edges and chairs for forty-plus years, and still looks as good as the day I bought it. I just don't play the Martins much, and so here I am.

I am in the process of adding a few guitars to my collection, all Ovations -- largely for the reason I have given: I will play them a lot more because I don't have to worry about what I'm doing to the back and underside of the guitar while I'm doing it.

I've played the 1122 for years at weddings, coffeehouses, amateur stuff, often into a mike, and have never had any complaints about the sound. It's pretty much been my best friend -- a constant in an ever-changing life. I hope to make some friends here, too, and I thank you for including me in the fan club.
