Same here, Tim. I wish I had more guitar stands. I had to lean a bunch of mine up against the Porsches. I had problems getting the sun to move around to the right place, too. That photography stuff is tough.

Mark,

I picked up a dozen on sale $7.99 at GC online.
Hamilton Stands Compact A-Frame Folding Guitar Stand

I wouldn't leave them unattended but it was handy for the photoshoot.

D67, you'd be cool with that, right?

I just saw this. A bit behind on this thread I suppose.

I agree with everyone else that you take great pics Dave. I'd never turn down a shipment from your collection tho! :D

Now sending it back would be tough.

Tim, I'm sooo jealous that your kids get to go outside! Cause it's always raining here in the shadow of the Olympic Rainforest, so the kids have to stay inside and play fireside instead!

At least you don't have to worry about strangers coming by and trying to snatching one when you're not looking!

I've often wondered how certain members here get such fantastic and detailed pictures of their guitar.
Well, a couple weeks ago we found ourselves in the market for a new camera. We just bought a nice Nikon coolpix with plenty enough mega-pixels just a year ago. Please don't ask why we were already in the market for a new one.
Okay... since you asked... The lovely and talented Mrs. Slipkid defied all odds and forces of nature and found a way to deep soak the camera in her cup of Pepsi. Can we move on??

There is a ton of camera geek speak I don't understand but if your in the market, check out something like this.... Sony DSC-H50

It's a low end SLR. Not that much more money than a high end mini-slim model.
It makes all the difference in the world.

Don't feel bad. I've learned from hard experience that while they come out clean, tuners and cell phones and washing machines don't mix.......

My oldest daughter managed to drop her camera into a glass full of wine. There wasn't more than a half inch of extra room. I bet someone couldn't do that 1 in 20 tries.

Forget the camera, what kind of wine did she ruin?

Brad, whatever you go with please remember 2 things:

1. The camera MUST have a flash shoe on top for an external flash
2. You keep enough $ in the budget to buy the flash that will be attached to above mentioned shoe

FWIW, I've always found Sony colors (Especially with the Zeiss lenses) to be a bit over saturated, especially the reds (A very bad thing with red blanket pics). Also, megapixels really mean squat unless your doing poster sized print photography. I'll sacrifice some megapixels for a good zoom any day. Many people don't believe it, but I do not own a true SLR. My 5700 has a fixed lens (with a flash shoe on top), though there are attachments for wide angle and extra zoom (telephoto)

Don't get sucked into the megapixel BS, and also, get something with a robust manual mode.

Here's what I use...

In contrast, here's dad with his portable setup, a medium format Mamiya with a 2 flash setup. Now here's the real stuff!

Brad, I'm sorry, I misread your post. You already have the Sony...

Never mind. Sony's are great! (I'm not just saying that, really). It was my second choice when I was shopping for prosumer cameras.
