Howdy folks. Just purchased a nylon string model 1122-4 off the eBay, and am anxiously awaiting its arrival. In the meantime, I'm planning on buying a new case for it, as the one it comes with is a little less than desirable. Of course, I'd love for it to be an Ovation case, and am wondering which one would work. This guitar--which I haven't dated yet, as the seller didn't include a serial #--has one of those "artist" bowls, which based on my searching is somewhere in between the present-day deep and medium bowl. I want to make sure I get a case that properly secures this guitar, so any help would be appreciated.

Though I've been looking at the major instrument retailers, I'd be happy to buy from within the OFC.

Patch, that looks great. I'm presuming by the fact that you're pointing it out that it is indeed a fit for the 1122-4?

It should be a good fit. I'll check it with my 1122 to be sure. PM me your email and I will get a photo to you by tomorrow.

Just got the guitar. The playability and sound are incredible... certainly worth more than the money I paid for it. It's a 1972, which as I understand it is the first year of that model's production.

The bowl is surprisingly smaller than I expected. I put it in the same case I use for my CK047 (medium-bowl) and the bowl fit just fine. The trick, however, is that the 1122-4 is a smaller scale neck (the 12th fret is the last one before the body of the guitar), and the nut sits just at the opening in the case for the head.

That's normal for those guitars. I sent you some pics. Let me know.

And you're right, these guitars have WAY more tone and volume than seems reasonable. Just beautiful instruments all around!

The very kind Patch sold me one of his fine Ovation cases! Looking forward to the new home for my 1122-4 (that I've now named Elliott).

Just got the case in today, Patch. Great condition, and a fine fit for the guitar. It is a bit loose, but when I bought the guitar it came with a strap, which if you put it in the bottom of the case works as a sort of steadying measure. A happy buyer, for sure!
