Hi guys,

My beautiful twins ('Chelle and Belle) need a service. The equaliser isn't great on either anymore and they kind of fart a bit(!).
I live in Ireland and handed them into my luthier to have a look. After he opened up them, he handed them right back as he wasn't prepared to touch that circuit board!
As they're 30 year old basses, they presumably have 30 year old electrics inside, so I'm considering them re-wired. What would be your thoughts on this?
I'm presuming I'll have to go the UK to get them sorted, would you fine fettled gents know of anyone that could fix my babies?

Thanks guys,

Barry

Barry, there's absolutely nothing in those circuits that a competent electronics tech can't handle. Customer service may be able to provide a schematic.

Have you tried squirting some Servisol or Electrolube on the EQ pot tracks? Noise from the EQ sliders is invariably down to dirty tracks and a quick blast of electronic lubricant is usually all it takes to fix. Don't use WD40!

Don't think so, the only changes were the shape of the body and the thumbrest/pickup surround/string mute, I'm pretty sure the electronics were identical.

Guys, thats great. Thanks a lot. Has anyone here ever re-wired a magnum II before? If so, did it make a difference in sound quality?

Thanks again guys
