I haven't pulled my camera out for a while, bet there have been some new toys. We'll start off on topic with the one getting the most play right now...

The Ovation 6773LX Artist

I've wanted a nylon string for a while, but the 2" nuts kill me. This 1 3/4 is a nice medium. I've played nylon string guitars that have sounded better, but this one plays like I need it to play, and becuase of that, I'm at 98% on a song that I've been trying to master for nearly 20 years.

These have a unique binding and rosete, much like the limited and highly coveted Folklore Deluxe. I can name ebony and tortoise with some confidence, but would have to guess maple and padauk for the other 2 woods used.

It's currently the most reached for guitar by me, and guests. A pleasure to play.

Now not so on-topic.

The Larrivee LV-09 is the first wood box I’ve bought for a long time. It’s gorgeous and sounds fabulous. Well balanced, crisp, clear, and very LOUD. The neck is nice and slim which I like a lot. The body is slightly smaller than a big dread. Still getting used to the 1 3/4 nut. Probably not my favorite for playing an acoustic solo, but for pickin and strumin, MAN!

And last, but definitely not least, one I've been looking for for a long time.

The Peavey Odyssey

These are the pinnacle of Peavey’s guitar building efforts, and maybe the finest guitar they ever designed. I have been looking for one for a long time. They’re a cross between a Les Paul, PRS, and Ovation UltraGP, and man does it sound great. Some of the best sounding humbuckers since the UKII.

Now I may catch some flack here, but I've owned an Ultra GP. This guitar takes all that is good about the GP (like the blended heel and hot pickups), and then took it to an all new level. These are 4 times the guitar, at 1/4 the price, assuming you can find one cuz people don't let them go.

The specs are impressive, the playability is extraordinary:

Mahogany Body/Carved, Book Matched, Flame Maple Top (this one's Trans-black)
Bilaminated Mahogany Neck
Heel-less, Set-in Neck/Body Construction
24-18% Nickel-Silver Frets – 24 ¾" Scale

3-Way Pickup Selector Switch
2-way Mini Toggle Switch (Single Coil On/Off)
Individual Volume and Tone for Each Pickup

Graphlon Topnut
Mother of Pearl Inlays
Strap-locks

Oh, and the best ever knobs. I love the speed knobs. Ibanez used to use similar ones too.

It's not the first time I've been tempted to do an OFC calendar "Red Blanket" Edition.....

The 6773 LX is one of my favorite Ovations and one of the most elegant looking guitars ever built. And I agree that it's way more comfortable to play than any nylon string has any right to be.

I don't blame you for wanting one of these. This is a fine work of art for an electric guitar. I remember a friend had a Peavey guitar that had a little amp built into the case. We were 12 years old when he got it. We'd sit in the hall at school in between classes and crank it up, it was cool. Peavey definitely did some cool things back then. Hope you find this guitar some day.

I don't know if the 6773 LX was the first Ovation nylon string to NOT have the uniform width headstock, but it was the first one to catch my eye. When I first saw it, it looked strange to me. But the more I drooled over it, the more I began to see the elegance of it. Beautiful guitar!

Dano, I have an affection for Peavey guitars and have several. I've probably had 4 or 5 T60s, and have tried most every USA model now except the Wolfgang. Much like Ovation, they've been 'dissed' for years.

I also had a Peavey Heritage tube amp once, holy jesus that thing would move the house off the foundation with those dual black widows. Funny how some of the coolest US made stuff gets snubbed. We will all have the last laugh some day when everyone wants to buy our Ovations. At least I hope.
