I miss my Martin nylon string guitar. I had it for a Long.time. I've always liked Martin guitars...still do...But!
Every time I pick up my Ovation, I know, selling it was the right thing to do. My 1116-4 out performs it easily.
It doesn't look like there is anyone out there, willing to part with another one but I plan to keep on looking.

1613-4 came today...not quite as nice as my 1116 but, it is close...no cracks at all, just a couple of dings.
Interesting...the scale is an inch longer on the pine topped guitar. I thought that was just a misprint on the Qvation archive page.
I have a new computer with windows 8.1. If I can ever figure out how, I'll put up some photos of my beautiful pair of classicals

Side by side comparison of the two really brings out the different character and Voice of the guitars. The spruce 1116 is much brighter and maybe a little louder while, the pine topped 1613 has a mellow, woody tone.
Ej-45's work well on the 1116 but I might try a higher tension string on the 1613.

hog heaven...2 identical Ovations...identical string spacing...same string spacing as my banjos and all have flat fret boards.
got a few negative comments when I showed up at a jam with my "new" Ovation, in place of my old Martin. they shut up after they heard it and I passed it around. These guitars don't get the praise they deserve. I love 'em.

"These guitars don't get the praise they deserve."

I think I've heard that before somewhere...

Sound like you have a good pair to draw to.

I switched the tuners on my two guitars. The gold pegs are on my dead mint 1116-4 and my back-up/pass around got the nickel set.
The stereo p/u on my 1613 is great but I wish I could find an original owners manuel

took my 1613-4 and made it a 1113-4...the stereo pick up was scratchy and had static pop when I adjusted it so I removed all of the electronics. The guitar's weight was my only complaint. I found rubber plugs at the hardware store and they make nice work of the holes that were left. It is now the same as my 1116-4. This is the nicest playing set of guitars I have ever had so I guess I don't need to buy any more...wouldn't mind finding a set of gold Schallers.
The neck profile is very different on these two classicals. The longer scale 1113 has a much thinner neck than the 1116. I would sure like to know if this is common with these models or just to mine

Are you still looking for a classical? There's a 1763 in good shape on CL here.

good news!!!I got ahold of the seller of the 1763. He is a truck driver and retired policeman and he is going to deliver the guitar to me in a week or two...seems like a good guy.
thanks again to Mark in Boise for spotting the guitar. I will add photos when I get it.

Congrats. Let Damon play it when it gets up there to show him what he missed. I think it's about time for another Northwest OFC Gathering.

John seemed pretty geeked about it, so I didn't follow through.

1763 got here today...it looks like it was built yesterday...not a Mark on it...thanks again to Mark in Boise

guess I'm gonna try to sell the minty 1763. While I have had cut-away Ovations before, this is my first deep bowl cut-away. The strap button location and the deep bowl cause the guitar to try to lay a little flat while I'm standing. It is a little hard on my left wrist. I don't want to add another strap button under the heel.
I will try to replace it with another 1113/1613/1116/1616....too bad, it's a nice guitar.

for sale...$800...Mint 1763 classical w/cut-away...comes in a 9158 case...photos are on fleabay
