Location: Lakewood, Ohio | Im sure this has been asked before, but Ovation models have a 4 digit code. What number(s) is used to id the bowl size, in particular the mid and deep bowl. i was just on EBAY looking at a Legend and it has a super shallow bowl. im more interested in a mid depth or deep bowl guitar. |

Location: Tennessee | SOmetimes the numbers are in different places. 1869 is a super shallow bowl Custom Legend, 1769 is a deep bowl custom legend. 1779 is a mid-bowl. Same thing applies to Elites ... 1868 is ssb, 1768 is deep, 1778 is mid.
I have no ide what 1537 means. |

1114 - deep bowl
1129 - artist bowl
But only for the first years.
It changed somewhere in the seventies/eighties. Then it was the second digit, but also this is no definitive clue (means, it changed again and again).
For example:
1651 - deep bowl Legend
1768 - deep bowl Elite
1868 - shallow/super shallow Elite
Today the 17XX stands for mid depth, only 18XX always stood for shallow/super shallow.
That's how I understood it.
Now comes the 20XX - contour bowl.
And a lot of other exceptions.
Best way to be sure is to look at the Ovation Decoder :
