I need to lower the string action on my Millineuim CB and I am concerned about Fu&*ing up something on the guitar.
Should I do it myself or take it in?
It seems fairly simple but I dont want to get into something that is over my head.
Is it only letting the string action off and removing the bridge and remove a shim or two or can there be other issues? Thanks for any advice.GWB

That's pretty much all there is to it. If I can do it, it must be simple.

That's how lowered the action on my adamas and raised my action on the country artist. Just be ginger when lifting the saddle assembly.

I did it, and I'm a complete moron. Go for it, you don't even have to take the strings all the way off if they aren't ready for a change.

Since I've done this on my O, I'll pass out a couple of comments.
-lossen the strings until you can raise all of the strings at least a 1/2 inch or more at the bridge with the palm of your hand (a better approach would be to remove all the strings).
-take of the back cover plate; you can use one hand to push the pickup wire thru as you lift the pickup out of the bridge.
-I never could get the end caps off but you don't need to - to remove the pickup case.
-there are multiple shims under the pickup case; some are flat and thin some are white and angled(thin on one end and thicker at the other end).
(removing one of the thin shims would be a good starting point)
- make sure to replace the angled shims with the thick end at the Bass E side.

sure wish I had a camera when I had done this...

Well I remembered that I already had all of the shims removed when I bought this and had it setup.I now know what a pickup looks like .Theres nothing to it but a peice of soft plastic with 6 little peices of copper inserted in it?
I hope the copper side is the one that sits up toward the strings.

This is interesting. I have a whole bunch of shims from the mothership and your post got me thinking that this might be why my action changes a bit recently....so...out comes the dial calipers.

All of mine are the same at both ends, no tapers. Oh well....next issue.
