Hey - is it still for sale? I've been away for a while, but I'm still interested... I have a 1114 Folklore, my first "real" guitar bought new, super sweet guitar - have always lusted after an FD-14 - counting my pennies..............

Wow, hard to believe I've had this up for sale here for a year now and no solid bites.

I'm going to drop my price to $1600 shipped/insured within the Continental United States. Or contact me if you're outside the US and maybe we can work something out.

This puppy is still hiding out in my closet, waiting for a new OFC home. How about $1500?

Hi DVD, I'd love it but the tax and shipping to the UK will be too much! :-( Are you planning a visit to the UK?

How would you describe the tone of this guitar?

Incredible. A very warm and tasteful tone. Not overly bright and nowhere near muddy but certainly one of the "woodier" Ovations produced. Why they never did more of this model I'll never know. Obviously tone is highly subjective but the FUD is one of my favorites. Do a search. One of Ovations best.

Weaser pretty much nailed it. I had my new to me Folklore when I played one of these for the first time and it sounded much more like a wood backed guitar. Not as crisp and bright as most Ovations, but very warm and woody.

It's a cedar top, 12 fret guitar with a 1.75" nut width. A fingerpicker's delight. That's what accounts for the tone as described above. It's absolutely killer if this is your style. On the other hand, my experience with the guitar also reveals that if you flat pick and drive your guitars hard, this one is not the guitar for you.

Bingo! This is the reason I've never had one. I'm not a fingerpicker. I love the way they look though.

No disagreement here and well pointed out. To me, this probably fits into the "right tool for the right job" category. I wouldn't think you be looking for a small bodied, cedar topped guit if you were a driver. I wouldn't buy a 2080, a premier Adamas in it's own right, if I was looking for a subtle James Taylor type sound either.

That's why we all need one of everything.

Hi Bernie:
You've got a great memory. I had to sell it because of debts I had at the time. So I hope I'm never in that position again and can keep this one for a very long time. It is scheduled to arrive tomorrow!
