| Hello,
first post in the forum.
I have two Ovations: a Celebrity and a 12 string 1115 USA.
I'm currently looking at adding another one to my collection a S711D-W Special Balladeer USA.
I found this locally for around $400.
What are you general thoughts about this guitar and is it worth the $400?
Thanks. |

Only you can decide on the value.
Any USA-made Ovation is usually a good deal at that price.
Of course, that really depends on condition, wear and such.
Remember, they won't be making this guitar again.

Location: Tennessee | The model is probably S771. Not sure what the D-W signifies, but it could have been a special order for a music chain or distributor. Can you get a shot of the label? That may have some clues on it.
Generally these were OK ... very much a "workingman's" guitar ... light on the frills but solidly made with typical Ovation playability and sound. Some came with cedar tops which are sought after by a lot of players. I don't recall anyone ever having anything bad this to say about this model.
I can't really comment on prices, they fluctuate a little based on timing and condition. What Arthur said above is bang on. If it were me, I'd make sure it had an OHSC with it for that money.
Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

| Thanks for the input guys.
It does have the OHSC.
I attached a picture of the label.
The model (as it appears on the label) it's indeed a S711D-W. |

Like a 1711 only in a "Special" version?

| Yes no Cutaway and Deep Bowl.
Battery compartment next to input jack and no tone/volume controls. |
