I've been looking for a LongNeck for 6-8 months now and they're hard to find......it seems not many people are giving them up! Well, I finally came across a 1994 original owner DS-768 cherry, cherry, burst CCB with an OP-24 preamp and original case. All for an incredible $600 bucks!
It came with unknown mediums on it and a super low action which gave some fret buzz on the high strings. I looked under the bridge and there was just one shim, so I added another and problem solved. I've ordered some D'Addario heavy strings and will monitor the added string tension.
Sound?? Awesome!! I've got it tuned to D and it just rumbles! I have a decent, but not super high voice range and this guitar will add at least 30 songs to my set lists that are just out of range on a standard guitar!
Oh, and thanks Damon for insisting on the 768. The bigger bowl is the ticket!
Well, I've rambled enough. I'll give an update after I put the heavy's on and jam with it a month.
Happy Holidays!
Dave

Location: Cicero, NY | I cannot imagine the rumble that longneck 12 has to produce. It has just GOT to be a room filling wall of sound. One of these days I want to hear that, T...very nice.
And very nice get, Dave. Merry Christmas. |
