Location: Somerset, UK | Hello all. I look after forum member JamesHoll's guitars, so I've enjoyed playing and working on some very nice Ovations in recent years. At present I have a problem with the VXT, which in acoustic piezo mode has the A and B string putting out about half the volume of the other strings. In magnetic pickup mode everything is fine.
I searched here and found an old thread with the same question, and the suggestion was to clean the saddles. So I've tried a drop of Servisol switch cleaner on each, but it hasn't made a difference. I'd be very grateful if anyone can help.
I've signed up here under my username from the Fender and Epiphone forums so a further hello to anyone who knows me already. And thanks! |

Location: Somerset, UK | After a lot more googling I found a mention on the talkbass forum, where the user says, "If one piezo saddle is noticeably quieter than the rest and you find it problematic, the best thing to do is replace it. I had to buy 3 new saddles for my Tele's Fishman Powerbridge to get the volume balanced across all the strings." He didn't say if he had tried anything else.
So I've found that Fishman do sell the saddles as aftermarket parts. If anyone has any thoughts, that would be much appreciated. |

Have you discussed parts with Customer Service yet?
Semi related, I have put Fishman saddles into Ovation solidbody Bridges before and if remember right they also fit the VXT. |

Location: Somerset, UK | Thanks MWoody. I did also check the wires and everything looks OK. Hadn't thought to ask Customer Services about parts, that would be a good place to start.
One thought I had was that there might be individual string volume adjustment on the circuit board, but I can't see anything that looks like that.
Cheers, Paul. |

I just took my VXT out on the street corner today.
(getting ready for a cold-weather guitar)
My VXT bridge sez "Fishman" right on it.
So I am guessing that that is the kind of replacement saddles you would use.
But I have no idea how to take them apart.
And if there is any soldering involved, I ain't even trying.

Location: Somerset, UK | Thanks Arthur and Damon. The saddles appear on Fishman's site, there are two versions of the VXT type, one with a central intonation adjusting screw as on the VXT, and one with an offset one, like some strats are.
Soldering I can handle, though I'd just have to make sure I removed the right ones. |
