Hi knowledgeable Ovation people

I have a couple of Adamas guitars I'm looking to sell and would really appreciate some advice on what a reasonable price for these instruments would be. It seems to be quite difficult to find adverts for these models on the internet, which would be my usual way of trying to gauge the price of something.

The first one is a black Adamas W598 12-string from 2006, in perfect condition. The second is a blue Adamas 1687-8 from 1998, in good condition but not quite as good as the W598. Both have the original cases.

If any more information would be helpful please ask.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Welcome!
Those are fairly common introductory questions and deserve some kind of answer.
That's why we set up the FAQ section:
http://www.ovationfanclub.com/megabbs/forums/forum-view.asp?fid=28

For a current pulse - take a look at Ebay current and closed listings.

It is unlikely that someone on this site will give you an absolute price since there are so many factors involved but once you are cleared to post in the other parts you should post some clear photos and you'll get a lot of high/low opinions and learn a little about your guitars.

Hi - thanks for your response. Firstly, sorry, I didn't realise there was an FAQ and should have known better - apologies

Naturally eBay completed and sold listings were the first thing I tried, but wasn't able to find much for those specific models. There was one for the 1687, as I recall, but nothing for the W598, and I have a potential buyer for that one here in the UK who is asking for a price, and I'm not in a position to suggest one!

I understand that it's not a simple question and there is no one definitive value for any item; I was looking for a very, very rough ballpark figure - I inherited these instruments and have literally no idea of the W598's value.

In any case, there is perhaps one thing that might be of help - it occurs to me that I might be being too specific searching for the model number W598. Could anyone suggest better search terms for me? Perhaps other similar models, or keywords that might help me find similar instruments currently or previously for sale? Is the W598 rare, is that why I haven't been able to find any listings?

Thanks!

All Adamii are kinda rare. You don't generally see them "in person".
And I know what a W598 should look like... But I cannot find one online either.
Looking on eBay, I did find a coupla 1598 MEII's that had sold for around $1300.
They are similar... But yours is rarer. That does not necessarily affect the price.
The value is what You will take for it, and what someone is willing to pay for it.

Okay... Suddenly I can find stuff. What was wrong with Google yesterday?
Start with: http://www.ovationtribute.com/Ovation%20Parts%20Catalog/Ovation_%20...

Elderly was selling them for $2500.

Oklahoma Vintage wanted $2000.

Don't know how helpful that will be... but it is early in the morning.

That's very helpful, thanks a lot! It gives me even a vague idea what kind of region the price should be, which is much further on than I was before. Cheers!
