Location: Utah | Our own MWoody created a 12 string A Scale from a (Taylor?) 6 string, putting on a Koa top and using Ovation tuners. It's a fun little instrument which sounds a bit like a mandolin. The extended headstock prevents any production hard shell case from fitting, and the back tip of the headstock sits behind the plane of the back of the body making it a bit of a tricky geometry to build a case. It was a fun but time consuming project. The purple interior is indeed a nod to the vintage Ovation cases.

It was from the neck of a Tacoma/Olympia guitar that that creature grew.
Looks like it belongs with that case, good job! |

So, did you get contact cement all over you, doing the "upholstery", and take a week to get it all off?
Note to self: quit using stuff that keeps you from going out in public. |

Location: Utah | Rubber gloves and spraying outside were the secret to not getting too sticky. I think I used 5 different types of adhesives along the way. The spray contact cement was fine for the large surfaces, and it was surprisingly clean. The good liquid contact cement dissolved the foam, so I went with old fashioned kindergarten contact cement for the foam shapes.
Fabric wicks blue loctite more strongly than metal threads hold onto it. My family was exposed to some unfortunate language after making that discovery.
Now I need an excuse to take the instrument somewhere out of the house so that the case doesn't just get put away in a closet. |

Location: Upper Left USA | Have you thought about busking outside of Lowes or Home Depot with a sign that reads "I have a DIY Habit, Quitting is not an option".
See how much small cash and sympathy you can get!
Probably end up with half a dozen more OFC Members. |
