Hi everyone,

Some time has passed since my last post, and I decided to buy a discounted CC28. However, I've also procured a 8117 SSB case along with it, and the thing is, the guitar doesn't fit (I mean you could close the case, but you'd have to press the lid real hard). I also have a really crappy CC57 model lying around (~20 years old), of the same super shallow Celebrity variety, and it fits the case nicely.

Has anyone encountered a similar problem? I live in Austria, and I bought the guitar & the case in Germany, so I really hate the idea of sending either of them back - too much work for my taste.

Great thanks in advance!

I do understand that they are generally of shitty quality, and the guitar indeed sounds horrendously thin (especially considering the fact that I come from a classical guitar background and thus am obsessed with sound). But buying a guitar with the Ovation name on it, I at least expect it to fit into the case specifically designed for it?...

Ovation's website states that the case for the CC28 is "8317-0" not the "8117" that you mention. That same 8317 is recommended for the Elite model Super Shallow as well, so I'm guessing, maybe with design changes over the years.. some guitars fit the 8117 and some fit the 8317-0. This seems to match up that you have a CC57 that fits the case. Older Guitar fits = 8117 and Newer Guitar fits = 8317-0 .

Thank you so much for the info, Mr. Ovation!
It's a pity that Ovation doesn't maintain the same shape for their models, like Gibson does for example... But now that I think about it, it's actually logical, seeing that their approach is novel and experimental. It's one thing working with a shape developed say in 1920s...
