Howdy - looking for a little advice...I need to replace my stock Ovation tuners on my 2077LX (2006) and am wondering what viable replacement options are out there. On my guitar, the mounting screw sits at 6 o'clock, and I would prefer to maintain the use of the existing screw hole versus adding another.

From my research, it appears that Grover Roto-Matics (full size) may fit the bill.

Has anyone on the forum replace theirs, and if yes, what with?

Thanks,
Dave

You can often find Ovation branded tuners on eBay.
But I believe that the Grovers will fit.

You can also upgrade with SCHALLER M6 Vintage. I have changed them on several guitars, they will fit perfect and they have a 18:1 ratio which make them very comfortable by tuning the guitar.

Thanks for the two suggestions. I will likely go with the Schaller.

I would have recommended the Schallers, too, but my experience is limited. I've only had one tuner go bad and that was a Grover mini. Grover replaced it free, even though I wasn't the original owner, which I very much appreciate. All of my other guitars have Schallers/Ovations and the only problem I've had is with the bottons on the 97 Collector.
Ovation tuners are made by Schaller, right? I thought they quit putting the Ovation logo on them before 2006.

OH? So it isn't just my 97C...
I had trouble with mine so I bought a whole new set that I will change one day.

I have bought a couple of sets of tuners on the bay.
I learned the hard way that US Ovation and Celebrity tuners are different. The Celeb has a thinner shaft where the tuner button is mounted, so if you want to upgrade to perloid etc from Schaller, you are SOL.
So it is important to ask what guitar they cam off of.
My little "Beer Parlor" Trekker has gold Schallers with small perloid buttons. Makes it look downright expensive!

A lot of people complained about the brittle buttons on the 97C when it came out. The same style buttons on my Ute haven't been a problem. I replaced mine with some larger ebony buttons I got from Al. They were a bit tight, but seem to be much more durable.
