Hi all,

I'm glad I found this forum. Over 30 years after I stopped playing guitar (what a shame) I decided to get back to it and to buy an Ovation which I always wanted. Unfortunately I can't afford $5000 for a guitar so it won't be the Adamas that I dreamed of 35 years ago.

I set my choice on the Pro Elite 2078AX. That's going to be a gift from me to me for my 50th birthday

I'm sure I will have many questions but one that I'm trying to answer right now is what would be a good amp for me. I don't want a huge powerful thing, I just need something small that I can use at home and maybe on stage once or twice a year if I get to participate in charity funds raising shows with some people I know.

I searched on google this morning and many seems to like Ultrasound AG30 or DS4 and the Carvin AG100D. I'm still looking around and would be more than happy to get suggestions and thoughts.

Hi Eric, sounds like you'll fit in real well here. Someone will be along shortly to give you full access. In the meantime, welcome. I don't know much about amps, but you might want to post about that in the general section when you get full access, as most people can't post in the welcome section.

Thanks Takfar.

After doing some research.....which I guess I should have done BEFORE choosing a model, I found out that I was wrong in thinking all Ovations were made in USA.

I don't know if I still want the 2078AX, has the quality gone down on Ovations when they moved production to Asia ?

I'm now considering the 1778lx-5 below but I was really interested by a contour bowl so I don't know what to do anymore

Eric, welcome.

The 1778LX was my first acoustic O and a once choice, but why not look at this one? http://www.lostartvintage.com/Categoryinfo.aspx?categoryid=8&catego...

I've updated your status, so feel free to roam about and post at will.

I inquired on the 1778LX but unfortunately it's no longer available. I looked at that C2078lx but I'm really looking for a black one. I like the red but buying black is kind of an unofficial deal I made with someone and I want to respect that.

I am wondering though why is there such a big difference in price between the one you posted and this one, they're the same model.

Thanks for updating my status. I'm going to follow Tafkar's suggestion and post in the general section about amps.

I'd stick with US made (if you want my advice). Looking at the Lost Art Vintage, the stand-out bargain for me is the Custom Koa. I have one of these - only 12 were made (12 others with a 12 fret to the body design sold straight away). Contour body, stunning to look out and a lovely mellow tone.

If you can't afford new US made, I'd go second hand before new Asian made - I sold my 12 String Collectors to help fund a very used 12 string Adamas.
