(The lighting was too far off to get even a poor photo of the other room, but it was every bit as hazardous to your present romantic relationship.) ![]() I love going to this event every year. You know how we always say that places should stock higher-end Ovations? Well this takes the core of that idea to a whole new level! It's a chance to wrap your hands around some truly world-class instruments. And even though I will never be able to afford most of what shows up here, I always leave with a deeper appreciation for luthiery and for craftsman of all stripes in general. And FWIW, this event has directly led to two of my Custom Ovations as quite a few tonewood suppliers bring their stock to show and sell to the many luthiers present. Two years ago I found that incredible flamed Claro Walnut that led to my 1615-X, and last year I found some incredible figured Mahogany that now tops my re-built 1987 Collector's. ![]() ![]() The lesson I've learned from those last two? If you don't want to spend money, don't take any with you! Because there will be something there you badly want right now! Seriously, the G.A.S. levels in Woodstock over the weekend dangerously exceed BLEVE levels and pose a real and deadly threat to your financial well-being! Luckily this year, I'm strapped. ![]() There are too many pics to link in one post, so keep scrolling, and I'll add the ones I would have purchased on the spot....... .......if I was Bill Gates. ![]() Edited by Patch 2013-10-28 10:07 AM

Mandolin by Frank Finocchio, Easton, PA, $2.2K I looked at quite a few mandos, but this one just struck me for some reason. I like the understated point and the striking binding. Good punch and easy to play. Frankly, it was worth more than he was asking. IMHO.

I can hear the Joni Mitchell/CSN tune going through my head with a little twist on the lyrics... "by the time I left from Woodstock... I was half a Million in debt..."
