Have to stay away from CL, no telling what you might find. This guitar plays so nice and really needed a new home. SN makes it a 2006. I think I read that they did not come with Ovation cases? Anyways this one came with a nice SKB case, not perfect but really well made case. Out the door for $300.00.

OK if you read this far, please humor me with one question about this model. The guy who sold me this guitar said the way it sounds now is the way it always will, as the top will never open up like 'normal guitars". I know it is a solid top. Made in New Hartford CT...

Previous owners CL picture, better than mine.

It will be Better.

Very nice! I was looking for this model recently (before I found a nice Standard Elite and bought it!) but I think I'd still like to get one in the future! $300 is a bargain! The last one I was watching on ebay went for £360 (approx $560). If you are in the UK, there's currently a very nice one on ebay with mother of pearl dots inlay.

Congrats! I really like my T as well. Sounds great to me played through some effects! The preamp gives a bit more agression than my LX with the OP-Pro. And, yes, to agree with others, HELL of a deal!

Yes I did my research and thought for sure it was a very good deal. Just as important though is how nice it plays, sounds and the set-up is nice. Can't wait to put on a fresh pair of strings. This is my 4th Ovation, but I sold 2 off, and this is my first multi-hole, going to be around awhile. Thanks for the info.

The one I sold to a fellow in Belgium really sounded nice.
You definately got a great deal for $300, I felt I was being nice for selling mine for $500
I miss it but it's sale helped me fund my Adamas.
At any rate, I think these 1778 T's are a bit unappreciated.
I personally wasn't goo goo over their look but it sure did sound good.

I was so blessed to get the 1778T-5 that I currently have.
When I first came to the OFC there was Always a bunch of them available on eBay.
At one point I had Four T's... and somehow I let them all slip away.
I had even sold the Sweet T and my Orange Flamer! (but I got them back)
But I didn't have a regular ole 1778T, and nobody was selling them either.
Out of desperation I bought a New 1778TX... It was a Nice guitar.... but!
Right after I received the TX I saw a real USA 1778T on d'Bay.
I didn't hesitate... I grabbed it. I would figure-out how to pay for it somehow. (I sold the TX)
They aren't making these any longer, so if any of y'all see one...

There are multiple threads that refer to the 1778T as the "Best Bang for the Buck."
And to think... The Elite T's were a budget model.
I am happy for you.

Which pair are you going to change?  Why not just replace them all?

I've got 2 a black one and a pewter one. Like them both, although the black one is my favorite. Paid 275 for the pewter last year. Probably keep them both. A couple of months ago a young guy came to the house promoting dish network and in talking with found out he missed having his guitar with him. So I brought out my 1868 and amp and let him play, then bright out one of the t's, he really was impressed. He was a Martin player. I don't think he had ever seen an O

Some of the best sounding mid-bowls ever in my opinion. I like the flamer models too.

Andto answer the question... they age just like any other guitar.
Treat them well and they improve.

noeleon - 2013-06-03 8:41 PM I've got 2 a black one and a pewter one.

I would be interested to see the pewter one.  I thought they only came in black?  Does it also have the ebony fretboard?  That's the one thing I especially like about my T.

Three. Black, Pewter, and Lusty Red.

Plus Red Flame, Orange Flame, Blue Flame, and maybe some other official Flames. But the flamers were a typical gloss finish compared to the textured finish of the above 3 colors. So they are really different sounding guitars with the same underlying structure.

There were a few iterations of the Flame models with various preamps and slightly different colors. Idk if the regular T guitars had the different preamps for different years.

OP-30 in the original, with No TRC.
All of the Pewters that I have seen have an OP-30 and No TRC.
Later they got the Truss Rod Cover neck, then the OP-Pro.
My Super Shallow 1868T has a Kaman Bar (No TRC) and the OP-30.

Mine has the OP-30 and trc. I'd like to have one with the OP-Pro.

Mine has the OP-30 and trc. I'd like to have one with the OP-Pro.

Just personal opinion.... I like the OP-30 better than the OP-Pro.

I have an OP-30 in my everyday Red Flamer.
It is a more powerful preamp so it plays better through the Roland CubeStreet.
And I like the pre-shape button better than the "pre-EQ" on the Pro.
And the OP-30 Mutes when you hit the tuna... the Pro don't.

Still loving this guitar, no regrets. Anyways I used to always try new things on my guitars and i got away from that a while ago. Last week I remembered trying a set of "high strung Nashville" strings on one of my guitars years ago and i really liked. I had to special order a set from GC as they don't stock them. D'Addario EJ38H .010-027 PB. Just for fun I put them on the Elite and man that sound is cool.

Lot's of fun to play and a obviously a total new sound. Hey try a set for under $7.00
