Location: Scotland | Montana was a budget guitar line, I think of eastern european origin, imported by Kaman Music. I think they are now discontined. Gibson acoustics are currently manufactured at the old Flatiron mandolin factory in Montana. There was no connection between Gibson and Kaman on Kaman's Montana-branded guitars. Are you sure you read the label correctly? |

Location: 6 String Ranch | Kaman did register and use the name Montana. They were lo-end imports, I thought from the orient but could have been anywhere. It was done on purpose because Gibson had the factory in Montana so Kaman registered the name and got it and used it on cheap spoo, Just to piss off henry. It was a little bit of pay back.
As far as the guitar you're talking about, the name Gibson shouldn't be on it anywhere. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I bought one of these that says "Monterey" on the headstock in the same font as the ones that say Montana. It also said a Kaman Music Product on the label. It was the best sounding and playing $100 guitar in the store. |
